Lahore police said that eight more suspects were arrested on charges of molesting a female TikToker, Ayesha Akram, in front of Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day. The arrested individuals include the victim's associate.
Lahore DIG Investigation Shariq Jamal Khan said that these arrests were made based on a supplementary statement that the survivor submitted to the police.
Earlier, 98 suspects were released by the police after Akram and her companions did not identify them during an identity parade.
The victim named 13 suspects including her associate Amir Sohail alias Rambo, who went to Greater Iqbal Park with her on the day of the incident. Sohail is among the eight people recently arrested.
Holding her associate responsible for the incident, Ayesha revealed that she had been giving half her salary to him. She added that Sohail runs a 'TikTok' gang along with his partners and records obscene videos. She said that Sohail and his partners did the same with her and are used those video to blackmail her. "They have extorted Rs1 million from me," she claimed.
The DIG vowed to arrest the remaining suspects, saying that further investigation into the case would be held as per the law.
