'Prime Minister Shehbaz's Meeting With French President Macron Was Crucial'
Analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said on Saturday Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had emphasised the need for better ties with France to ensure Pakistan exited the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List.

He made the remarks in flagship Naya Daur show Khabar Say Aagay. Suharwardy said he had broached the topic of Sharif's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to be told that his meeting with Emmanuel Macron was more important how better Pakistan-France ties were necessary to ensure the nation exited the FATF Grey List.

Suharwardy said CJP Umar Ata Bandial was being remarkably obstinate. He wanted to sideline senior judges and promote juniors. He said the CJP had made the appointment of judges to the SC so controversial that this did not bode well for the institution. Suharwardy said cases were being heard by a "chosen" three-member bench while all the other judges remained vacant. He said when judges were not inducted on merit how could one expect impartial verdicts to be delivered.

Journalist Riffatullah Orakzai said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had tasked every Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PTI MNA to gather 4,000 people for his long march. KP PTI MPAs had been tasked with bringing 2,000. He said a cell had been established in the KP Chief Minister House to monitor activity on this account.

Academic Ayesha Siddiqa said the establishment will not let Khan stage a comeback. Neither will it let the governing coalition dwell in the impression that it had become all-powerful.

Flagship Naya Daur show Khabar Say Aagay streams every Monday to Saturday at 9pm.
