Viscount Cowdray was the driving force behind the sport's revival in Britain after WW2. Polo has been played at the Cowdray Park Polo Club, set in the vast Cowdray estate in Sussex, for over a century.

Prince Philip reached a handicap of 5, and Captain Windsor Park team has won many tournaments, including Cowdray Park's Gold Cup, emblematic of the British Open Polo Championship.

Lord Cowdray pursued playing polo despite losing an arm at Dunkirk.

Gen. Yousuf as Captain led Pakistan's Polo team in defeating the Indian Army team on its home ground in 1955. His son, future ambassador ?Tarik Afridi, captained our polo team to India in 1986.
