The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced the postponement of by-elections scheduled to be held on September 11, 25 and October 2 due to devastating country-wide floods.
The decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja. The ECP secretary, members, and senior officials were present on the occasion.
The secretary told those present that hundreds of buildings had been destroyed and transportation stood disrupted nationwide due to floods in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South Punjab. The ECP decided to postpone by-elections in NA-157, PP-139, PP-241, NA-22, NA-24, NA-31, NA-45, NA-108, NA-118, NA-237, NA-239, NA-246 and PP-209 after.
