MNA Mohsin Dawar said on Wednesday that many areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) were being handed over to the Taliban.
Addressing the National Assembly, Dawar said the people of K-P will never accept the Taliban. When the Taliban wrested control of Kabul, some said Afghans stood emancipated, the MNA said.
He said an attack has taken place in Swat and some functionaries , including a deputy superintendent of police, had been abducted. Dawar lamented how when he used to try to warn about the incoming Taliban onslaught his NA mic would be switched off .
Former NA speaker Fahmida Mirza said the transmission of a TV channel had been suspended. She asked how many channels will be taken off-air. Action can be taken against a programme but blocking a channel was wrong, she said.
Responding to this, NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said freedom of expression was important but Pakistani forces had been ridiculed. Derision of Pakistan's military was tantamount to anti-state activity, he added.
He said that no patriotic Pakistani would permit this. Speaking against Pakistan's military and judiciary was a violation of the Constitution, Ashraf said.
