Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has again incurred public condemnation for his comments on the tragic deaths in Murree when he suggested that people instead should "stay at home, eat nuts, and throw snow spray at each other." The statement is just one in a string of unsatisfactory comments from the federal government, including from the prime minister.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and the federal minister have both received criticism for their 'insensitive' remarks about the deadly weekend incident in Murree. Social media erupted when the prime minister seemingly linked the incident to overcrowding and a failure of tourists to check the weather forecast before heading north.

Just days before the tragic event, Chaudhry had praised the swell of tourists to Murree, heralding the economic gains the large number of visitors would bring to the area.

Chaudhary's more recent comments have also caused outrage.

Others have lamented the government's poor responses and the government's seeming insistence that it could not have done anything to prevent the calamity.

"Get the latest formulas from these useless ministers," wrote one commentator.  "Government version of want to stay alive, don't die," wrote another.
