Legendary comedian and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz award winner Umer Sharif has issued a video message to Prime Minister Imran Khan on a television show, asking for assistance with medical treatment which can only be provided abroad. He sent his message via the ARY News programme 11th Hour, hosted by Waseem Badami.
In his message, Umer Sharif mentioned his role in assisting the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. He said: “I request Prime Minister Imran Khan to come to my support just like I have come to his whenever he has called me.”
Anchor Waseem Badami went on to explain that the specific treatment that Umer Sharif requires, within the next 15 to 20 days, is available only in three countries: the United States, Germany and Saudi Arabia.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shahbaz Gill was asked to respond to the veteran comedian's appeal for assistance. He promised to convey the message to the Prime Minister, stating that the government would start by getting in touch with Germany and Saudi Arabia, and then also the United States. “Whichever country agrees to facilitate this, we will involve them,” promised Gill.
