Pakistan Expresses ‘Vigorous Resentment’ Over India’s Plan To Conduct G20 Summit In Occupied Kashmir
Pakistan expressed its "vigrous resentment" on Tuesday over India's decision to host the G20 summit in the illegally occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Following the announcement by the Indian government that the G20 Tourism Working Group conference would take place in Srinagar from May 22–24, 2023, the Foreign Office released a statement.

According to the FO, the scheduling of two more meetings of the G20 consultative forum in Leh and Srinagar in the IIOJK is similarly unsettling.

Pakistan said that India's reckless action is the most recent in a string of self-serving actions to continue its illegitimate occupation of Jammu and Kashmir in flagrant violation of UN Security Council resolutions, the UN Charter, and international law.

According to the FO, such activities cannot hide the fact that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized conflict that has been on the UNSC's agenda for more than 70 years, nor can they divert attention from India's brutal suppression of the people of IIOJK, including illegitimate attempts to alter the demographic makeup of the occupied territory.

The statement said, "By hosting G20 events in IIOJK, India is once again using its membership in a significant international organization to further its own self-serving agenda."

"India has once again shown that it is unable to act as a responsible member of the international community," the FO stated. "For a country that has a grandiose vision about itself and its place in the world."

A summit on tourism would be held in Srinagar, although Pakistan has informed other Group of 20 (G20) members of its reservations about Indian designs.

Since the UN Security Council is considering Indian control of some portions of Kashmir, Pakistan has reminded the nations that Srinagar is a part of the internationally recognized disputed area. As a result, no such international meeting could be convened in the recognized disputed areas.
