Pakistani boxers Suleman Baloch and Nazeer Ullah Khan have gone missing in Birmingham after participating in the Commonwealth Games.
According to Dawn, the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) confirmed the disappearance of the boxers. PBF Secretary Nasir Tang said that the boxers went missing a couple of hours before the team’s departure for Islamabad. Tang said their passports are with the federation officials. The British government and police have been informed about the disappearance of boxers, he said.He expressed hope that the duo would be traced soon.
Taking notice of the incident, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has constituted a four-member committee to probe the matter.
It is pertinent to mention that this is not the first time Pakistani athletes have gone missing while representing the country abroad. An entire 14-member Pakistan football squad vanished in Japan in 1994.
