Iconic Comedian Majid Jahangir Passes Away
Majid Jahangir was suffering from multiple health complications for the past five years. For the past one decade he was living under immense destitute without and assistance at the part of culture department or government functionaries.

Jahangir's claim to fame was Pakistan Televisions iconic play 50-50 a sociopolitical satire highlighting discrepancies of our society in a comic way. The duo of Ismaili Tara and Majid Jahangir made people laugh by impersonating as Bengali, Behari and Balochi besides that they appeared in different role in that play and made it a masterpiece of Pakistan's television history.

In late 90s Jahangir moved to the USA but could not stay there for long and returned back to Pakistan and since then he was under distress following the attitude of government as well as his colleagues. In recognition of his services he was bestowed with Pride of Performance in 1981 and Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2020 by the Government of Pakistan.

After the news of his miserable plight was aired Government announced some remuneration for him but it was not sufficient for him. The timing of his funeral prayer could not be announced till the filing of this report.

Renowned personalities of Pakistan Showbiz industry took to the Twitter to express their grief on the demise of veteran actor. Co-star of 50-50 Ismail Tara passed away last month.
