The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday terminated the basic party membership of Khurram Hameed Khan Rokhri.
Rokhri's membership had been rescinded after he "violated party policy" and contradicted party "version" without authorisation, according to a document seen by The Friday Times -- Naya Daur. The party said he was no longer affiliated with the PTI in the document dated November 11, 2022.
The media, the party "instructed" not to invite him as a PTI representative. Legal action will ensue, the party warned, if the directive was not heeded to. Bureaucrats too, the party counselled the same. The document is undersigned by PTI Mianwali district president Saleem Gul Khan.
Rokhri had claimed on Thursday that he had met Major General Faisal to mediate between PTI chief Imran Khan and the establishment. He made the claim in Geo show Capital Talk hosted by Hamid Mir. The retired major said he quit mediating between the two due to the party’s smear campaign in midst of crucial negotiations.
“A day after the Wazirabad incident, Salman Ahmed asked me to be a part of yet another meeting but I refused that,” Rokhri said while talking to Hamid Mir. “Every meeting followed a controversial statement,” he said, adding talks had commenced after the Shehbaz Gill incident.
