Noor Mukadam Case: SC Orders Prosecution To Produce Evidence Against Zahir Jaffer's Mother
Prosecution in the Noor Mukadam murder case has been asked by the Supreme Court to provide the evidence it has against prime accused Zahir Jaffer's mother Ismat Adamjee at the next hearing of the case scheduled for October 18.

The top court issued these orders while hearing the bail applications of Zakir Jaffer and his wife Ismat Adamjee, which they had filed separately in the apex court following the Islamabad High Court (IHC)'s rejection of their bail pleas.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah enquired as to where Ismat Jaffer had been mentioned in the IHC verdict.Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that the bench was trying to understand the case, adding that Ismat was not named in the high court order (that rejected the bail application).

Zakir and Ismat's lawyer Khawaja Haris maintained that the case was registered against Zahir Jaffer and that his parents were in Karachi at the time of the incident.
Justice Qazi Amin remarked that Noor Mukadam's murder was a sad incident, and said that the court is requesting information to better understand the case.

'Zahir's parents complicit in murder'

In September, friends of Noor Mukadam, the slain daughter of former Pakistani diplomat Shaukat Mukadam, staged a demonstration outside the IHC, calling on the authorities to serve justice.

The protest was held on the occasion of hearing of the post-arrest bail petitions of prime accused Zahir Jaffer’s parents. The protestors requested the court not to grant bail to Zahir’ parents, saying that they were complicit in the murder.
