FC Official Martyred As Road Side Bomb Targets Security Forces in Peshawar

A security official was martyred, and at least 10 others were injured when a bomb planted by the roadside on Peshawar's Warsak Road targeted a vehicle of security forces on Monday morning, police and locals said.

Police said that a patrol vehicle of the Frontier Corps (FC) forces was passing through Warsak Road in Peshawar on Monday morning when a bomb planted by the roadside exploded.

The blast was powerful enough to be heard for miles around while it rendered the FC vehicle inoperable.

As a result of the blast, an FC official was martyred. At least five other FC personnel riding in the vehicle were injured.

Two passers-by were also injured in the attack.

Shortly after the blast, a heavy contingent of security forces, including police and the bomb disposal squad, rushed to the site and cordoned off the area.

The dead and injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.

Police said that an initial probe into the attack suggests that the explosive material was planted by the roadside and that it was not a suicide blast.

They added that they were conducting a search for suspects who could be behind the attack.
