The shelling on a civilian area in Chaman from the Afghan side was deliberate and aggressive, resulting in seven deaths, said analyst Murtaza Solangi while speaking about the incident which took place on Sunday (December 11) night.
The analyst made the remarks while speaking during the program Naya Daur TV's program Khabar Say Aagay on Monday November 12.
According to Solangi, the dispute erupted after the Afghan side objected to the repair of a part of the border fence put in place by Pakistan to disallow terrorists into its border.
Shortly after, he maintained, they fired mortars and when the attack was retaliated, they used artillery on the civilian area, thus causing the casualties.
Speaking on the occasion, Rifatullah Orakzai pointed out that the Afghan side has been unable to come up with a solution in terms of reining in the TTP, al-Qaeda and several other terrorist organisations.
He added that there seems to be no possibility at the moment of resuming dialogue between Kabul and the said outfits.
While speaking about the political situation in the country, analyst Muzamal Suharwardy opined that ties between Chairman PTI Imran Khan and PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi have got to a point that they might not be on the same page in near future.
He added that the PTI chief and Punjab CM Pervez Elahi have turned against each other and may formally announce parting ways in December.
On the dollars' smuggling issue, economic expert Dr. Aqdas Afzal said Pakistan has been taking steps to stop the practice and it involves the efforts of key intelligence agencies of the country.
He, however, added that the liquidity challenge was quite huge and it may not be contained by this step alone.
Solangi added at this point that an approximately $8 million are being smuggled from the country on a daily basis.
