Pakistan Rebuffs Israel's Unusual 'Advice' On Human Rights
Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch described an attack on Pakistan's human rights record made by an Israeli official the day before as politically motivated, saying that Pakistan can manage without Israel's guidance on the defense of human rights.

"Israel's politically driven remark profoundly contradicts the session's overall upbeat atmosphere and the statements made by the great majority of governments. She added that Pakistan can surely do without Israel's advice on defending human rights given its long history of oppressing Palestinians.

The spokesperson's remarks were made following the unanimous adoption of The Universal Periodic Report of Pakistan by the UN Human Rights Council and praise for Pakistan's considerable advancements in human rights from a number of governments and civil society groups.

Pakistan emphasized the value of the Universal Periodic Review procedure during its presentation to the UN Human Rights Council. The government saw it as a useful tool for countries to carry out their responsibilities under the human rights treaties through constructive engagement with the least amount of politicization possible.

The envoy for Pakistan stated that the fourth review "offered an opportunity to showcase the progress being made as well as the challenges faced in Pakistan's persistent quest to advance rights, freedoms, dignity, and better standards for everyone in the country."

On the other hand, Sherry Rehman, the minister for climate change and environmental coordination, harshly denounced Israel's speech against Pakistan at the UN, claiming that Israel and India's backing for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its chief had completely revealed the evil network that was responsible for the carnage on May 9.

She questioned, "What justification does Israel offer in support of assaults on Pakistan's sensitive installations?" Why doesn't Israel talk about how India is occupying Kashmir and violating human rights?

She denounced the PTI chairman for criticizing and opposing his arrest, saying no one is above the law.
