Snehalata Dixit, the mother of Madhuri Dixit, died today at the age of 91. She passed away at their Mumbai home on Sunday. According to reports, her cremation will occur in a crematorium in Worli today at 3 o'clock. "Our dear Aai, Snehalata Dikshit, died peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones," Madhuri Dixit and her husband Shriram Nene announced in a joint statement.
Last year, Madhuri Dixit posted a heartfelt message on social media in honor of her mother's 90th birthday. "Aai, happy birthday! A mother is supposedly a daughter's best friend. They couldn't possibly be more correct. The greatest gift you have given me out of all that you have done for me is the lessons that you have taught me. I only want the best for you—happiness and health!" Along with her mother's uncommon and unpublished photos, Madhuri had written a poem.
Madhuri's mother collaborated with her to record a song for "Gulab Gang" in 2013. Anubhav Sinha, the director, described the encounter to IANS, saying, "When we asked Madhuri to perform a song for the movie, she gladly consented to do so. We learned her mother was a really talented vocalist when she arrived for the recording with her. So we requested that her mother sing a song. We eventually managed to get Madhuri and her mother to perform in the movie."
