Zahir Shah Steps Down As NAB Deputy Chairman

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Chairman Zahir Shah has resigned from his post, citing personal reasons.

According to a source, Shah submitted his resignation to NAB Chairman Lt Gen (R) Nazir Ahmad Butt.

According to NAB sources, Shah resigned for personal reasons.

The sources said that following a meeting, Shah gave the NAB chairman his letter of resignation. They also mentioned that Shah may receive a new, significant task from the bureau.

Shah served as director general of NAB Rawalpindi and director of operations at NAB Headquarters before being promoted to the rank of deputy chairman.

He also served as acting head of the NAB after Aftab Sultan, the former NAB chairman, resigned from the position.

Shah's resignation from the NAB was the second in a week, following the Prosecutor General Accountability Justice (R) Syed Asghar Haider's departure from the organization for private reasons.

The former ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had given a 3-year service extension to Asghar Haider through an ordinance in February 2021.
