One Year Utility Bills Of PM House, Office Under Imran Khan Were Equal To Entire Shelter Homes Project Cost: Journalist
Ehsaas programs, including Langar Khana and Shelter Home, were portrayed as former prime minister Imran Khan's flagship projects to give the impression that he was concerned about the miseries of a poor segment of society. However, the annual utility bills of the Prime Minister's Home and Office is equivalent to the cost incurred on the Shelter Homes project, journalist Fakhar Durrani said on his YouTube channel.

He stated that there are 39 total shelter homes in four major cities of the country, including Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, and Mardan. He revealed that the entire Shelter Homes project cost from its inception till the end of the PTI government's tenure is 180 million rupees. But it was projected as if billions of rupees were spent on it for the welfare of the people living below the poverty line, he added.

The journalist said that the total cost incurred on Langar Khana from its commencement until the end of PTI's tenure was 160 million rupees. He said that the combined cost of both projects was 340 million rupees.

He said that Imran Khan became the prime minister in August 2018, and during a span of four years, his traveling cost—via helicopter—from his residence in Bani Gala to the PM Office was Rs 1 billion. According to the journalist, the annual utility bill for the PM House and the PM secretariat was Rs 140 million.

Durrani said that Imran Khan’s travel cost from Bani Gala to the Prime Minister's Office was six times higher than the overall cost incurred on both the Langar Khana and Shelter Homes projects.

He stated that these two projects were presented to the public to develop a perception that Imran Khan only had people's welfare on his mind all the time. It was felt that half of the country’s budget was being spent on these two projects, he added sarcastically.

"Imran Khan is the biggest player in propaganda and publicity stunts, and no other politician can compete with him in these areas."

The journalist said that both projects were providing relief to the masses, but it was primarily a publicity stunt for Imran Khan rather than an attempt to improve the quality of service to the people of Pakistan.

He added that Imran Khan used to visit Langar Khana and Shelter Homes once a month for photo sessions, and that was the only milestone Imran Khan achieved during his tenure.
