PMLN To Modify Judges' Appointment Process: Khawaja Saad
Minister for Railways and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that the party would modify the process for appointing judges and propose a new judicial system through parliamentary legislation if they succeed in securing the government in the next elections.

While speaking to journalists after the PMLN workers' convention, he said that former premier Nawaz Sharif would soon return to Pakistan and lay out the new judicial and economic systems.

"Nawaz Sharif is coming back; he will be back in the country soon, and the PMLN will bring about a new justice system under his guidance," said the minister.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said the process for appointing judges will be modified when the PMLN forms a government after the next elections.

The minister said that it was a conspiracy to expel Nawaz Sharif based on an Iqama. He claimed that political parties would need to adopt a democratic ethos.

He severely criticized PTI Chairman Imran Khan, saying he lacked political acumen. He said that Khan was doing politics on dead bodies and scandalizing the establishment.

The judiciary has come under fire from the PMLN for allegedly playing a biased role in the politics of the country by favoring one candidate while ignoring the other.

It is pertinent to mention here that PMLN Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, in a speech last month, lashed out at former chief justices of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar and Asif Saeed Khosa.

On February 23, Maryam Nawaz rained down on the judges hearing the cases filed against former premier Imran Khan, calling them “remnants” of former lieutenant general Faiz Hameed.

“These judges have sprung into action again to give Imran Khan’s dying politics a new life,” Maryam told those in attendance in Sargodha on the occasion of the party’s workers’ convention.

“Mazahir Naqvi, Ijaz ul-Ahsan are the remnants of Faiz,” she said, and added, “In particular, Ijaz ul-Ahsan becomes part of every bench hearing a case against Nawaz Sharif.”
