Plans To Target Justice Sardar Tariq Masood After Qazi Faez Isa
Some in the judiciary have decided to target SC judge Justice Sardar Tariq Masood to punish him for his stance on CJ's discretionary powers, and to ensure that he doesn't come in their way in the future.

Justice Masood was the author of the verdict alongside Justice Qazi Faez Isa, that sought to limit the top judge's powers to take a suo motu notice in an individual capacity and constitute special benches.

According to journalist Asad Ali Toor, one of the said conspirers is facing allegations of a serious nature, and added that he was also the one behind the reference targeting Justice Isa.

He further said that on the directions of his senior, this individual has deployed some people to find any thing that could portray Justice Masood as a tainted judge.

The judge used to have his chamber in Rawalpindi, and so paid elements are looking for something that could be used against him.

The journalist also said that the man working on the scheme has the assistance of the lawyers belonging to Insaf lawyers forum.

"Once they find that something, they will proceed to submit a query against him with the judges' forums to clip his wings and ensure he doesn't cause them trouble again," he maintained.

The country's judiciary has had clear divisions, with judges openly dissenting to the Chief Justice's stance on a case related to elections in Punjab.

The court has been pushing the departments concerned to release the funds for the polls, but the ruling PML-N has been reluctant.

Earlier today, a reference was filed in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against eight judges, including the CJ, for alleged violations of Article 209 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

It came a day after the bench suspended a parliamentary bill seeking to clip the suo motu powers of the chief justice until a final verdict is issued in this regard.
