The first international flight landed at Skardu Airport in Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday, transforming the airport's status from domestic to international.

Skardu Airport was operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from Dubai to Skardu. The national carrier was welcomed with a customary water cannon salute.
