'Jahangir Tareen Used To Provide Monthly Amount Of Rs5 Million To Run Imran Khan's House'

Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Justice (r) Wajihuddin Ahmed has claimed that estranged PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen used to bear expenses of up to Rs. 3 million monthly for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s luxurious bungalow in Banigala.

Wajihuddin added, “This belief is completely false that Imran Khan is one [financially] honest man. His condition is such that he has not run his own household for years."

He went on to say that the Jahangir Tareen group used to pay Rs. 3 million a month to run his house.” He further said that the amount was increased to Rs. 5 million afterwards because the fixed  amount of Rs. 3 million was not enough for Imran Khan’s residence.

He also claimed that certain party members would attempt to surpass each other by bearing expenses of Imran Khan’s residence and “keeping his pocket full all the time”. He also quoted an unnamed PTI leader as saying, “How can a man whose laces are not even his own call himself righteous?”

However, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill termed Wajihuddin’s allegations as “completely false and illogical”.

In a tweet, Gill said, “Anyone who knows Imran Khan knows his honesty and dignity. Wajih sahib often makes illogical remarks like these in despair of being thrown out of the party.”

It is worth mentioning that Wajihuddin had officially resigned from PTI in September 2016 after growing grave disagreements with PTI chief Imran Khan on the implementation of the recommendations of the court. He had served as the party’s election committee leader. He also chaired a commission in 2013 to probe “irregularities” in PTI’s intra-party elections that took place before the general elections.

He affirmed that the party was run like a mafia, having no institutional control and sense of fairness.
