PML-N Activist Sabir Mahmood ‘Kidnapped' From Lahore
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) activist Sabir Mahmood Hashmi was reportedly abducted in Lahore late Monday afternoon. Hashmi had been out on bail in a case registered against him under Section 20 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Hashmi was reportedly picked up at gunpoint from the Super Town Link Two area of Lahore.

At 2:14pm on Monday, Hashmi had posted a video on Twitter of Sachal Naru, the son of missing journalist Mudassar Naru, who some claim has been forcibly disappeared.

"Mudassar Naru has been missing since 2018. He has not been recovered till today. At that time, his son Sachal was 6 months old. Today, he is celebrating his fourth birthday," Hashmi wrote in his last Twitter post.

Coincidentally, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday heard a case regarding the journalist's disappearance in 2018, with Chief Justice Athar Minallah suggesting that the state was seemingly involved in enforced disappearances.

PML-N MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt called for Hashmi's return, saying that he "has been fully complying with law [and] honouring the court."

In September 2021, Maryam Nawaz Sharif posted a message of support to Hashmi, saying "Sabir, we are right behind you. [Please] let me know if there's anything I can do to facilitate." At the time of this article, she had not made a statement regarding Hashmi's disappearance.
