This is a photo of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, circa 1981 when she established the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD), a group made up of several political parties, including Air Marshal Asghar Khan’s Tehrik-e-Istaqlal, Wali Khan’s National Awami Party, Afzal Bangash’s Mazdoor Kissan Party, Mairaj Muhammad Khan’s Qaumi Mahaz-e-Azadi, and others. The MRD had a four-point agenda: an end to Gen Zia ul Haq’s martial law, the restoration of the 1973 constitution, parliamentary elections, and the transfer of political power from the military to elected representatives.
