Well done, Bill!

Despite naysayers and advice to the contrary, Bill received and welcomed The Man of Steel to Mithi, Tharparkar, when the latter came to see the famine-struck of the area. There were many voices of dissent in Bill’s party, which called for a boycott of The Man’s visit but Bill insisted that he wanted to do the right thing. After he’d taken stock of what went wrong in Tharparkar, he assigned responsibility and held people accountable, amongst them some hitherto untouchable personalities. Bill was warned not to move against them but he disregarded his party elders and did the needful. Well done, Bill!

Fending off fatwas

Valiant Veena Malik was desperate to return to Pakistan, but knew that she would have problems with the ghairat brigade given her “exposure” in Indian magazines, films and on Big Boss. She dreaded a fatwa or worse for having offended the increasingly pious citizenry of Pakistan. So, with her usual aplomb, she went about redressing the situation. First she invited a famous and sufficiently orthodox Maulana to Dubai, round trip and all expenses paid, where she met him demurely covered from head to toe, and swore fealty. Then she jetted off to the US where she had a white wedding on the banks of the Potomac in Maryland with her wealthy Pakistani-American beau. Now she’s off on pilgrimage to Mecca where she plans to do penance and “tauba”, following which she will return to Pakistan and perform yet more pious rituals publicly to fend off fatwas and the like.
