Former member of the National Assembly from South Waziristan Ali Wazir has been arrested in Dera Ismail Khan for alleged speeches against state institutions, police said on Tuesday.
Wazir, who was in Quetta recently, was returning to South Waziristan when he was stopped and arrested near Darzinda in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He was arrested based on a case registered against him at the Sadar Police Station in Dera Ismail Khan.
This is the second time in four months he has been arrested.
Earlier in August, he was arrested on similar charges for a speech at a Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) rally in Islamabad. He was arrested along with lawyer Imaan Hazir Mazari.
He was released on bail from Adiala Jail nearly a month later, on September 20. Mazari was released much earlier on court orders.
In February, Wazir was released after a two-year detention on similar charges. Wazir had been arrested along with ten others in December 2020 from Karachi for anti-state speeches.
He is said to have spent more time as an MNA behind bars rather than in the assembly or his constituency.
