If you're on Instagram, you might have come across beautiful artwork by Mariam Ibraaz, who is a Lahore-based artist. She dabbles in a variety of mediums, including illustrations, photography and videography, and makes the most stunning paintings that evoke a sense of familiar whimsy: think winged horses, Mughal miniature motifs and 80s kitsch.
Mariam recently was part of an art show hosted by Tagh'eer Lahore, which showcased works done by her and fellow artist Nashmia Haroon. The show, which is up till the end of September, opened on September 9, and features paintings and illustrations by the two women. It is titled 'A Two Person Show'.
Mariam completed her BFA and Masters in Art and Design from the Beaconhouse National University (BNU) in Lahore, and also lectured at the university for a period of time. She is currently serving as the Creative Director of fashion brand Generation PK, and oversees art direction for the company.
Mariam also makes gorgeous and retro Eid cards, which have a very old school kitschy charm to them.
Mariam certainly has an eye for what makes a beautiful image, and her artistic vision is so interesting and unique. We can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
