The death toll from rain-related incidents in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has surged to eight, with seven more injured.
Three people were killed in Lower Dir district when their house roof collapsed owing to strong rains. Furthermore, the rains damaged approximately 15 dwellings, entirely destroying two.
Similarly, in Upper Swat, two children were painfully killed in another roof fall. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that severe rains during the last 48 hours destroyed one home and damaged four others in Lower Chitral district. Furthermore, several roadways have been closed in response to severe rains and landslides.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken notice of the Bahrain-Kalam road shutdown in Swat owing to landslides, which is creating trouble for passengers. He asked Commissioner Malakand and DC Swat to take prompt action to unblock the route, using all available resources along with appropriate facilities for trapped visitors.
The chief minister highlighted the necessity of being attentive amid the threat of continuous rains, directing all district administrations and rescue organizations to be on alert. Measures should be in place to deal with any possible emergencies, limiting the loss of life and property.
