State Dept Terms Allegations Against Donald Lu ‘Untrue’: State Dept

Allegations leveled by former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan against Assistant Secretary Donald Lu are false, said State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller on Thursday.

The spokesperson said this in response to a query regarding a US congressional committee hearing next week on the transparency of Pakistan's elections, at which Assistant Secretary Donald Lu has been called to make an appearance.

Matthew Miller said, “Several State Department officials testify before Congress on a regular basis. We consider it a vital part of our duty to assist Congress in carrying out its duties, both in terms of policymaking and oversight. So we look forward to both casual and formal meetings with Congress, as well as the real testimony provided by our personnel.”

He responded to another question by saying, "We take any threats against US personnel seriously and condemn any attempt to jeopardize the safety and security of our ambassadors."
