On Tuesday, both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari issued separate statements with the same message of disagreement and disappointment over Miftah Ismail's price hike.
Despite an appreciation in rupee value and a decline in international oil prices, the Pakistani govenrment under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to raise the price of petrol by Rs.6.72 per litre.
A statement by the finance division said, "In the wake of fluctuations in petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variations, the government has decided to revise the existing prices or petroleum products to pass on the impact to the consumers.”
Maryam Nawaz also expressed that she was with the people of Pakistan and did not support this decision.
