Imran Khan Can Be Disqualified And Arrested, Says Najam Sethi
The cases against Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan have all matured and await decisions, so he can be disqualified purely on legal grounds in a matter of minutes, says The Friday Times Editor Najam Sethi.

He added that the former premier can also be taken into custody if he attempts to create unrest after his disqualification.

Sethi observed that Imran's disqualification would mark the end for PTI, because there is no one to lead the organisation afterwards.

He said that Imran can boycott general elections rather than to hand over his party to Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, or Fawad Chaudhry.

Speaking at Naya Daur TV’s programme Khabar Say Aagay, Editor TFT termed it a loss for PML-Q leader Pervez Elahi to dissolve the provincial assemblies now and side with the PTI chief.

It will take Elahi at least three months to have the development funds for Gujarat released, this is why he is asking Imran to wait until March.

He noted that Pakistan's economy is under pressure, and the establishment will not spare the ex-premier if he attempts to dissolve the assemblies and stir further instability.

"Imran Khan has difficult days ahead of him and it is hoped that he understands [this situation] himself, else he will be made to."

Sethi maintained that the former premier is under the wrong impression that he could compel a section of the military to side with him by attacking former Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

He added that Imran's popularity is continuously on a decline due to his narrative U-turns, with a lot of  people tired of this approach.

"With the cases popping up, those who had their trust in him for being non-corrupt, are dismayed."

To think that PTI chief can do better governance if given the reins again, is a gross misunderstanding, Editor TFT concluded.
