The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cyber crime cell sent notices to singer Salman Ahmad, who has been a long-time affiliate of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for criticizing state institutions on social media.
Media reports claim that the singer was sent notices over the anthems he sung for the PTI at their rallies, as well as for posting anti-state social media posts.
The singer confirmed the news in a video posted to his Twitter account.

In the video he said, "Today Rana Sanaullah and his henchmen threatened me again," adding that he received a phone call from his family members who were worried because their house was being surveilled by cars. Ahmad said that unidentified men had been asking his family about his whereabouts as well.
"This has been going on for the past two weeks," he said, adding that many of the PTI affiliated journalists, naming named Ayaz Amir, Imran Riaz Khan, Jamil Farooqi and Sami Ibrahim, as well as women and children were being harassed and threatened during this time.
"It has started to seem like Pakistan isn't a democracy, because this is just fascism."
He then said that he had received a notice from the FIA over a cyber crime charge. "If my family or friends are threatened I will hold responsible Rana Sanaullah, Hamza Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Sharif and will see to it that there is a reckoning, InshaAllah," he said.
