The employees of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have urged the government to approve three special allowances, warning that they will hold strikes if their demand are not fulfilled in the budget for fiscal year 2022-23.
In a letter written to the Senate finance committee on Wednesday, the employees stated that the budget for fiscal year 2022-23, which is under discussion in the Parliament, does not fulfil their demands, including de-freezing of the IJP allowance.
They further wrote that the employees of other departments of the federal government, including Federal Investigation Agency, Intelligence Bureau and Islamabad Capital Police, have been awarded remunerations in the form of different allowances.
They demanded special revenue allowance, special conveyance allowance, and de-freezing of the IJP allowance or provision of an allowance equivalent to 100 per cent of basic salary by discontinuing the frozen IJP allowance.
“If the demands are ignored in the budget 2022-23, the FBR employees will be left with no other option but to stage a peaceful protest. In order to do so, the employees of the FBR will observe a pen down strike on June 17, 2022. In case the demands still remain unattended, a pen down strike will be announced for an indefinite period,” the letter read.
