PTI’s Barrister Saif Seeks Naqvi's Resignation As PCB Chief

Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister, has sought that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi quit immediately.

The move comes after Naqvi stated that the Green Shirts need "major surgery" following their poor performance in the T20 World Cup, which resulted in their elimination from the competition.

"It appeared that a little operation would suffice, but with this poor performance, I'm convinced that a large surgery is necessary. The nation will soon see a major overhaul," Naqvi stated.

Pakistan has lost to the United States and India in their three previous matches, but has won against Canada. However, it wasn't enough to keep them in contention for the Super Eight round.

The squad will play its final match against Ireland today, hoping to win the game and conclude their disappointing tournament season on a high note.

Barrister Saif said that Naqvi's comments sparked a controversy.

"Mohsin Naqvi, the Sharif family, and the group of conspirators should undergo major surgery," stated the KP CM on X, adding that sports should be kept separate from politics.

Saif stated that this was to be anticipated from a board led by Naqvi, claiming that the "conspirators" granted him the chairman's position by stealing the mandate. "The incompetent group has hurt the sentiments of the cricket fans," he stated.

The KP CM advisor stated that the PCB chairman must be a professional and responsible individual.

The PCB had resolved to evaluate key contracts the day before, following the team's humiliating early withdrawal from the big championship.

According to insiders, following late-night meetings led by Naqvi and board officials, players with bad performances are anticipated to be degraded in terms of their core contracts during the first phase.

Meanwhile, numerous more would most certainly lose their central contracts entirely, according to the sources.
