The trailer for the upcoming Ms. Marvel series has been released, and fans are both excited and nervous about how the first Pakistani-Muslim superheroine will be represented on the screen.
The show will follow the life of Kamala Khan, a Muslim girl from Jersey City, as she navigates her way through high school and her newly discovered powers as a superhero. The main character is played by 16-year-old Pakistani-Canadian actor Iman Vellani. Pakistani actor Nimra Bucha also stars in the show.
Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy also directed some episodes of the series, which airs on Disney+ on June 8.
Obaid-Chinoy took to Instagram to announce the release of the trailer, saying "Having just emerged from a year and a half of working on 'Ms Marvel,' I cannot wait to share her story with the world — I know many young girls will see a reflection of themselves in her!"
Many fans from across the world were excited to finally see the positive representation of a Muslim female character on on television.
