Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan appeared before the Supreme Court on Thursday via video connection in a case related to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments.
The case is being heard by a larger SC bench of five members, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and including Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi.
The case is being heard on intra-court appeals submitted by the federal and provincial governments against the NAB amendments that the Supreme Court threw down.
As per sources, it is uncertain if the hearing will be aired live on the Supreme Court's website and YouTube channel until the bench decides.
Khan, who is detained in Adiala jail, sought to come in person before the Supreme Court to deliver his argument, but the court permitted him to defend himself via video link.
Following the Supreme Court's ruling, Khan's attorneys, Khawaja Haris and Intezar Panjutha, met with him briefly in jail the day before.
"The PTI founder can present his arguments in the upcoming hearing via video link if he wishes to do so. Arrangements should be made for the presentation of arguments via video link," Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked.0
The former premier has been out of sight since August 2023, when he was arrested after being convicted in the Toshakhana case.
