Parvez Elahi, Moonis Elahi Own 'Benami Properties' Worth Rs 400m In Spain
Former federal minister Chaudhry Moonis Elahi recently acquired Benami properties and other assets worth Rs 400 million in Spain, which include three parking plazas and one storage hall, according to the latest findings by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had written a letter to Spanish officials regarding an ongoing investigation against them and records of Benami assets of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and his son Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, who had served as federal minister during Imran Khan’s tenure, and the Spain authorities had replied to the NAB Lahore team in detail.

According to sources, the Barcelo Hotel in Barcelona is also owned by Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi, and a multi-story plaza is owned by the Pervez Elahi family, which is managed by their frontman Saqib Tahir, who is mentioned as the proprietor of this property.

The NAB authorities also received confirmation from Spain that the family is said to own numerous old buildings, plazas, and fruit gardens on the Canary Islands.

The Spanish authorities also confirmed to NAB Lahore that Moonis Elahi holds a Spanish residence permit (Tarjeta de Residencia), based on which he is making all the investments. In Barcelona, 23 CD, Joseph Plaza 08019, and the apartment opposite the commercial center

Diagonal Mar is in possession of Moonis Elahi, and he has been living in the two apartments since December 2022.

 

Moonis’s new taxi service

 

According to sources, Moonis Elahi recently started a taxi service in Barcelona after purchasing 250 taxis from a leasing company.

"Saqib Tahir and Chaudhry Imtiaz Lauren are known as frontmen for the Chaudhry Pervez Elahi family in Spain, a source told TFT.

The Spanish authorities have also opened an investigation into the Elahi family's illicit and unnamed properties.

 

‘Shares from RYK Sugar Mill transferred to dummy companies’

 

According to sources, shares worth 480 million of Rahim Yar Khan sugar mill came to light during the investigation and were in the names of Naib Qasid of the Health Department, Nawaz Bhatti, and an unemployed student from Punjab, Mazhar Abbas, and later on, these shares were transferred to Moonis Elahi.

Apart from this, 260 million shares of Rahim Yar Sugar were transferred in the names of two dummy companies, Me Capital and 31 Estate; these two dummy companies are also said to be owned by Parvez Elahi and his family.

The NAB has widened the scope of the investigation after new evidence came to light.

Apart from this, Anti-corruption Punjab is also investigating the incident related to Chaudhry Parvez Elahi taking a bribe of 125 million from a foreign company against the payment from LWMC.
