Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said that the opposition plans to bring a no-trust motion against the government despite the political risk this move entails.
"The people are looking towards the Opposition [so] that someone raises their voice for them. The no-trust motion is a risk that must be taken," Maryam told the press on Thursday, following her appearance at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Avenfield Apartments case. She further said that the prime minister is "on his last legs."
“PM Imran should be locked inside a room at the PM House for now," she said, criticising the premier's foreign policy and tact. She said that his 'frequent' visits abroad hurt international relations for Pakistan.
“Whenever PM Imran visits any country, he speaks against other states and spoils Pakistan’s relations with the nations,” she claimed. "Imran Khan didn't only destroy the economy, but also the foreign policy [of Pakistan]. He went to China to ask for money but he couldn't even get that."
On the domestic front, Maryam condemned the arrest and alleged torture of news analyst Mohsin Baig. "When I look at Imran Khan's situation, I remember Musharraf's regime. Mohsin Baig was good in your eyes when he collected Rs1 billion for you but when he criticised [the government], you started leaping his walls," she said.
Maryam also addressed the recent petrol price increase, calling it 'shameful.'
"People are cursing you because they cannot get cheap petrol but [PM Imran Khan] is the only prime minister who flies to Bani Gala from PM's House in a helicopter on the people's expense," she added.
