PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that there can be no two opinions about sending the matter related to the Supreme Court judge's alleged audio leak to the Supreme Judicial Council.
"There's no doubt about that," he said when asked by media persons in London if the case should be sent to the authority.
Earlier, Pakistan Bar Council and Lahore High Court Bar asked the council for a probe into the audio clip.
"It's obvious from what they have done [that it should be sent to the council]," Nawaz said and quipped, "If not, blame this one on me as well."
The former premier said that he was already facing too many allegations, adding 'let there be one more'.
He further said that the audio leaks are quite serious. It's due to the people like Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi that Pakistan is at such a juncture in history.
"I've been demanding the accountability of the gang of five for the past several years. Such people have pushed the country to the brink."
A day earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah asked Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial to take notice of the audio leaks.
“This clip is embarrassing wherein a minion of Imran Khan is involved,” he said while addressing a presser.
He was apparently referring to Parvez Elahi, the other person believed to be a part of the conversation in the leak.
In the clip, the duo could be heard discussing ongoing SC cases, including the one that involved former CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar.
The minister told media persons that he didn’t want to reveal the identity ‘of the judge’ as forensics are still awaited.
“How courageously he [Elahi] was managing Pakistan’s top court,” he said. “I will request the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of this.”
The PMLN leader also said that he had directed the FIA to conduct forensics of the clips and then arrest the former chief minister for an interrogation.
