Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has taken action in response to an allegedly unauthorized beauty pageant that chose a competitor to represent Pakistan in the next Miss Universe competition.
In reaction to this, the prime minister has instructed the Foreign Office to get in touch with the UAE government.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) was previously tasked by Kakar to look into the group in charge of organizing the beauty contest and utilizing Pakistan's name in connection with the Miss Universe pageant.
The Intelligence Bureau has since submitted its report to the PM.
Netizens have expressed mixed reactions to the action taken by the interim PM. Most internet users criticized the caretaker PM by saying that instead of controlling inflation and rising fuel and electricity prices, PM Kakar has taken notice of the beauty contest.
Many emerged in support of the action adopted by the caretaker government and lauded the move.
It is pertinent to mention here that Erica Robin, a beauty queen from Karachi, has been named "Miss Universe Pakistan 2023," making her the first Pakistani woman to hold the title.
The beauty contest included four additional models from various regions of the country, including Hira Inam from Lahore, Jessica Wilson from Rawalpindi, Pakistani-American Malika Alvi from Pennsylvania, and Sabrina Wasim.
When Robin was crowned Miss Universe Pakistan, she remarked, "I want to highlight the beauty of Pakistan, and I am honored and humbled to be the first Miss Universe Pakistan."
She said that Pakistanis are extremely nice, kind, and hospitable and that the media ignores the country's unique culture.
She said in her statement, "On top of that, I would want to urge everyone to visit my nation and experience the most delectable Pakistani cuisines and see our captivating nature, our snow-capped mountains, our greeneries, and our progressive landscapes.
It was announced by the organizers that Robin will compete in the Miss Universe competition as Pakistan's authorized representative, which is scheduled to be held in El Salvador this year.
