Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President and former Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi was handed over on Sunday to the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on a one-day physical remand in corruption cases.
A day after being held by the ACE, Elahi was today presented before the judicial magistrate. On Friday, he received bail approval from an anti-terrorism court in the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) assault case.
The duty magistrate granted ACE's plea for the PTI president's remand.
Officials from ACE claimed that he was involved in four cases of corruption.
The former chief minister was taken into custody by the Punjab ACE on Saturday outside the Adiala Jail.
Elahi was detained on four corruption charges that were brought against him, the ACE claimed. On Saturday night, he was brought to the ACE headquarters in Lahore.
A spokesperson for ACE Punjab said in a statement that the PTI leader was detained in Rawalpindi in relation to the Lahore Master Plan corruption case.
Elahi was accused of manipulating the Lahore Master Plan project for private financial advantage, according to the statement. He made an attempt to change the plan in order to incorporate his own holdings in Lahore by faking the consulting firm's seals and monograms.
