Police Foil Terrorist Attack On DI Khan Check Post

A terrorist attack on a police checkpoint in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan district was thwarted by police on Sunday night.

According to police officials, the terrorists opened fire on the checkpoint but were forced to run owing to retaliatory fire from the police.

The situation, which might have turned into a tragedy if the police had not intervened quickly enough, occurred at about 9:00 p.m. According to police officials, no loss of life took place as a result of the terrorists' shooting.

The police have initiated a search operation in the region to apprehend the terrorists.

In the CCTV camera video from the Chowanda checkpoint attack, ten militants can be seen running in the footage as a result of the retaliatory fire.

The new incident occurred about a week after at least 25 troops were martyred during multiple terrorist attacks, including a suicide assault in the Dera Ismail Khan region on December 11–12, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the military's media wing, increased terror activity was seen in the KP's region on the night of December 11–12, with a total of 27 terrorists "sent to hell" during several operations.

According to the military's media wing, a group of six terrorists attacked a security forces post in DI Khan's general area, Daraban.

It had said that the attempt to access the post was effectively halted, forcing the terrorists to crash an explosive-laden car into the barrier, followed by a suicide bombing strike.

"The resulting blasts led to the collapse of the building, causing multiple causalities; twenty-three brave soldiers embraced shahadat, while all six terrorists were effectively engaged and sent to hell," according to the statement.

The outgoing year saw an alarming increase in terror-related incidents across the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where at least 470 security personnel and civilians were killed.
