Roald Dahl's Books To Be Rewritten To Remove 'Offensive' Language
Roald Dahl Dahl, a fighter pilot during the Second World War, is one of the best-selling children's authors in history with more than 250 million books sold.

Dahl's books have been extensively rewritten by censors by sensitivity writers who have removed 'offensive' language from his stories.

Hundreds of changes have been made to the works of Roald Dahl, including the Oompa Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory being made gender-neutral and Augustus Gloop no longer described as 'fat'.

As per a report the following changes have also been made:

  • Mrs Twit's 'fearful ugliness' has been chopped to 'ugliness' and Mrs Hoppy in Esio Trot is not an 'attractive middle-aged lady' but a 'kind middle-aged lady'

  • Miss Trunchbull in Matilda, once a 'most formidable female', is now a 'most formidable woman', while her 'great horsey face' is now called 'her face'.

  • A witch posing as a 'cashier in a supermarket' now works as a 'top scientist' and Matilda reads Jane Austen instead of Rudyard Kipling

His books were under review by Puffin since 2020 but the Roald Dahl Story Company was bought by Netflix in 2021 for a reported £500 million.
