Local courts of Islamabad have extended the interim bails of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan till July 21, in cases registered against him for vandalism during the party’s ‘Azadi March’.
A total of 15 cases were registered against the former premier in 11 police stations. He was booked for abetment, rioting armed with deadly weapon, unlawful assembly, obstructing public service, disobedience, assault on a public servant, causing damage, and mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage.
Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti of the district and sessions court of the federal capital today heard the application filed by Babar Awan for interim bail in 10 cases registered against Imran.
The court approved the petition and extended the interim bail till July 21.
Meanwhile, Additional Sessions Judge-East Abdul Ghafoor Kakar heard the other cases filed against the former premier in the second district sessions court of the capital.
The judge approved Imran's interim bail application in five cases and set the bond at Rs55,000.
During the “Azadi March”, PTI leaders and workers had barged through barricades to make their way to the capital and were met with tear gas as the law enforcement agencies had thwarted the marchers to storm the capital.
