Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry and Dubai-based businessman Umar Zahoor were allegedly in contact for several years, even after the alleged buyer of the Graff luxury watch came to the fore.
These remarks were made by anchorperson Shahzeb Khanzada during his primetime program at Geo News.
The Toshakhana case against former prime minister Imran Khan came to the limelight again after the businessman claimed on Tuesday that he had the wristwatch worth Rs2 billion.
He also claimed that Farah Gogi – an acquaintance of PTI chairman’s wife Bushra – and Shahzad Akbar – Imran’s former aide – played the role of facilitators in the deal.
On Wednesday, the former premier – in a video address – denied the allegations and announced to initiate legal action against those involved in his “character assassination”.
The same day, senior party leader Fawad Chaudhry held a presser and claimed that the watch was not sold to Zahoor.
But according to the journalist, Zahoor had several conversations with Fawad in the past, with one taking place prior to the presser. In the screenshots of the alleged WhatsApp chat, the businessman is seen standing by his stance on buying the expensive gift.
Shahzeb quoted the businessman as saying that he was astonished at the PTI leader’s media talk because he had known him for years.
Zahoor, according to the anchorperson, also said that he and Fawad spoke extensively in the past about a Covid vaccine buying and a MoU related to an e-gaming project. The two also met on more than one occasions.
