Afghan president has Pakistani identity card

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has a Pakistani identity card according to the chairman of the district council of Chaghi. Dunya reports (August 6, 2015) that he showed a NADRA document as evidence during a meeting of the district council. He said late Afghan commander Ahmed Shah Massoud also had Pakistani identity documents.

‘If you love someone, you don’t have to love their dog’

If you love someone, you don’t have to love their dog, said PTI leader Justice Wajihuddin after his party membership was suspended. According to Jang (August 6, 2015)  he said free speech was his constitutional right.

Executioner gets Rs 500 per hanging

Sabir Masih, one of the only two executioners in Punjab jails, says he gets only Rs 500 for hanging one person, Nawa-e-Waqt reports (August 7, 2015). He does not get any travel allowance. Sometimes he has to spend money out of his own pocket.

According to Dunya (August 9 2015) a local MPA in Ghotki sent only two cauldrons of food for the flood victims in his district. They attacked the Biryani (toot parray) and began fighting each other when they couldn’t get any.

‘Mind your own business’

According to Nawa-e-Waqt (August 9, 2015) when a security guard at a village fair in Raiwind told the police that there was gambling going on, they beat him up (marna peetna) and told him to mind his own business (kaam say kaam).

Bear in mind

Reported in Express (August 9, 2015) a bear dancing in a PTI rally in Hafizabad was taken into custody (giraftar) and its owner was arrested in a raid by the Wildlife Department. It is illegal to keep a bear in captivity. The bear has been given to the Lahore Zoo. The owner says it is unfair because he had brought the animal up and depended on it for his livelihood. The PTI says it is political victimization.

Donkey work

Two suspects arrested from Qila Deedar Singh confessed to having supplied donkey meet to hotels in Gujranwala and other cities for months, Nawa-e-Waqt reports (August 10, 2015). Police seized 8 donkeys and knives from them.

Sukhbir Singh flees after being caught with cash

Reported in Dunya (August 11, 2015)  famous singer Sukhbir Singh, who had come to Pakistan to perform at a wedding, was caught with $29,000 in his luggage on his way back. But the airport administration colluded with him (milli bhagat) and he fled to Kenya.

Traffic wardens gang up to beat citizen

When an argument between a citizen and a traffic warden turned into a fistfight (hatha pai), other traffic wardens gathered on the scene and beat the citizen up (tashaddud ka nishana), reports Express (August 11, 2015). Shadman police said it was not aware of the incident.
