Parvez Elahi Can Be PDM's Chief Minister: Fahd Husain
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's spokesperson Fahd Husain confirmed on Monday that Pervez Elahi can be the candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement, the opposition's alliance, for the Punjab CM slot.

In a live presser two days ago, PTI chairman Imran Khan announced to dissolve assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – provinces where his party is in power –  on Dec 23 and begin his preparations for the elections afterwards.

"We have all options on the table," Husain told Hum TV's programme Pakistan Tonight host, when asked if Elahi's candidacy under the alliance's banner was a possibility.

He added that he did not want to go into the specifics, but the candidacy was indeed among the options.

"We will brainstorm all options and exercise the best possible one as per the given circumstances."

Husain further said that the PML-N had both, Plan 'A' and Plan 'B', ready, referring to possible dissolution of provincial assemblies.

According to him, it is in the incumbent government's interest to bring political stability in the country.

'Element of surprise'

Commenting on Imran's presser, PM's adviser said ex-premier's miscalculated move caused him to lose the opportunity to play the 'element of surprise'.

"We have not been sitting idle," he said adding, "We used this time to finalise options for the elections."

Concluding, Husain said it was in the country's interest for Imran Khan to enter negotiations so that the next elections are mutually agreed upon.
