Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has said that the "remnants" left by Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hamid may still be seen in organizations that continue to back Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Geo News reported.
During an interview with Geo News talk show, Maryam said Imran Khan is still being helped by the remnants of the previous establishment because of the connections between their interests.
In response to Khan's resistance to appearing in court for the several cases brought against him, Maryam stated this was the first instance of a leader disobeying a court order despite repeated reminders.
She further claimed that there are still "some vestiges" of the former Inter-Services Intelligence chief via which "they worked" despite the judiciary's honest and upright judges.
Maryam Nawaz said, "Not the institution, but certain people are backing Imran," asserting that Khan is still engaged in "deals" and so isn't showing up in court.
She continued to make fun of Khan, saying that despite being able to go to Rawalpindi for the party event while having a damaged leg, he "cannot appear before the court."
Maryam Nawaz added that the judiciary would need to carry out its accountability if accusations were made against it.
When asked how Khan had previously been helped to form a government, Maryam responded, "Members from our party and those from other parties were split to create his party.
She asserted that the government of the former prime minister, which was overthrown in April of last year after a vote of no confidence, was guided for four years.
The PML-N senior vice president claimed that when they required money, it was sent to them from abroad.
While talking about alleged audio leaks of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, she said it has been proved that bench fixing is happening.
