Responding to social media criticism of his meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in London, actor Adnan Siddique denied reports that he was going to join the PML-N. He justified his meeting with the former PM, saying that he was only promoting his new film 'Dum Mastam'.
Twitter users, particularly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, wasted no time in making memes about the actor, who had previously publicly pledged his support for PTI chairperson Imran Khan.
In a video shared after the meeting, Adnan can be seen standing outside Nawaz Sharif's residence. He said that he came to invite Nawaz to come watch his film, as his entire team is in London to promote the new movie.

"Nawaz Sharif also said that we are thinking of your fraternity," said Siddique, adding that the two also spoke about film policies in Pakistan.
After four days of being the subject of much discussion on Twitter, the actor took to his Instagram to set the record straight on why he met with the PML-N leader in London.
"I met him in a personal capacity with no personal agendas," he said, claiming that he only had the interests of the film industry at heart. He said that politics and art should be kept separate.
He also denied rumors of him joining any political party, saying, "I am still clueless on why there is no statement from the PMLN clarifying the same, specially when the official handle of the I&B ministry shared a fake tweet on the same."
He requested that the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb delete the tweet claiming he had joined PML-N.
He ended his video by saying that if people wanted to boycott his movie, he would 'take that in stride' and welcomed both 'bouquets and brickbats', and said he would be praying for those who attack other people while remaining anonymous themselves.
