PPP, PMLN Assure Apex Court Of Holding Talks With PTI On Polls
The Supreme Court (SC) received assurances on Thursday from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) that they would meet with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and try to reach an agreement on the election date.

Farooq H. Naek of the PPP and Khawaja Saad Rafique of the PML-N gave the Supreme Court's three-member bench, presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (EJP) Umar Ata Bandial, an assurance that negotiations with the opposition party will take place.

Naek informed the Supreme Court, "We will speak with the PTI so that the uprising ends.

As for the election schedule, Khawaja Saad Rafique stated in court, "We are ready to find a solution by sitting with the opposition."

The election delay lawsuit is being heard by a three-member bench that includes CJP Bandial, Justices Ijaz Ul Ahsan, and Munib Akhtar.

The CJP thanked Siraj ul Haq, the leader of Jamat-e-Islami, for trying to start a conversation between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at the beginning of the hearing.

"You took a commendable initiative." "May Allah be with you always," CJP Bandial wished the JI chief.

The chief justice then questioned PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi if his party was in agreement with the Supreme Court's recommendation to initiate negotiations.

"PTI thinks the nation ought to advance with constitutional supremacy. PTI has always upheld the Constitution, and we will abide by whatever decisions are made by the Supreme Court, Qureshi informed the CJP.

The lawyer for one of the petitioners argued during the hearing that holding the elections on the same day would solve all of the problems.

Lawyer Shah Khawar remarked, "We hope that all the parties will agree on a single point. CJP Bandial observed at this point that problems are brought on by judicial decisions. If the political parties can come to an amicable agreement, that will be a blessing, he continued.

He instructed the representatives to inform the court of the one-point agenda for the elections and stated that the court would first hear from the government.

The CJP also expressed his gratitude to the country’s top leadership for showing up to the hearing at the court's invitation.
